The idea behind "
Blueprint" as a tee shirt design was prior to my Architectural career. Selling a couple of thousand shirts, and completely selling out in just over 24 hours, I must admit I was a little surprised at the success of this product.
Almost a year later the shirt appeared in a National
T-Mobile Advert in the United States for their MyFaves phone package.
Threadless is a company based in America and is globally renowned for its unusual business strategy – rather than employing designers, the community submits designs which are voted on and then the company decides which to print and pay the designers for. At the time of my print winners received $1500 (now increased to $2000) and $500 of products, additionally each batch of reprints earns the designer an additional $500.
Below shows the product launch photograph and further down earlier pre production concepts.
